Air New Zealand has announced the discontinuation of its 2030 carbon emissions target, attributing the decision to challenges in acquiring newer, fuel-efficient aircraft and the limited availability of alternative jet fuels.
On Tuesday, Chief Executive Greg Foran highlighted that delays in the airline’s fleet renewal program have introduced “additional risks” to meeting the ambitious target. The lack of progress in transitioning to more efficient aircraft and sustainable fuel options has significantly impacted the feasibility of the 2030 goal.
